MAJOR CONSTRUCTION AND EVENTS

Eastbound State Route 152/156 Flyover in Southern Santa Clara County (8/27/08 2:58 p.m.)
On Thursday, August 28, at 6:00a.m. the eastbound State Route (SR) 152/156 flyover structure will open in southern Santa Clara County. For more information on this project, click here.

Caltrans Construction Activity On I-80 In San Francisco (8/27/08 2:54 p.m.)
Due to overnight Caltrans construction in San Francisco, the First Street on-ramp to eastbound I-80 will be closed between 11:00pm and 6:00am. The westbound I-80 Fremont Street off-ramp will be closed between 11:00pm and 5:00am. Motorists are advised to expect delays during these closures.

Construction to Close Hwy 12 to Hwy 101 Ramps (8/27/08 2:53 p.m.)
Caltrans will continue work on the north and southbound U.S. 101 connectors from eastbound State Route 12 and on the connector from westbound State Route 12 to southbound U.S. 101. Closures will take place Monday, August 25th through Thursday, August 28th from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. each night and on Friday, August 29th from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m. Detours will be in place during the closures. In addition to these closures, the #2 auxiliary lane on eastbound State Route 12 at Dutton Avenue will also be closed and the Dutton Avenue eastbound on-ramp to State Route 12 will follow the same closure schedule. Motorists are advised to consider alternate routes and to expect delays during these closures.

Golden Gate Bridge Toll Increase (8/27/08 2:52 p.m.)
Effective Tuesday, September 2, 2008 tolls will increase on the Golden Gate Bridge by $1.00 to $6.00 per two-axle vehicle ($5.00 for FasTrak customers). Click here for more info.

Yerba Buena Island Ramp Construction (8/27/08 2:50 p.m.)
The Yerba Buena Island eastbound right-hand side off ramp (east of the Yerba Buena Island Tunnel) remains closed for construction until the Bay Bridge project is complete in 2013. There are alternate on and off ramps west of the Yerba Buena Island Tunnel. For more information about Bay Bridge closures, click here.

Hwy 101 Widening and HOV Gap Closure Project in Marin County (8/27/08 2:49 p.m.)
In San Rafael, Caltrans continues with the Hwy 101 Widening and Gap closure project on Hwy 101 in Marin County. Construction for the widening of Hwy 101, the 580/101 connector ramp and continuous car-pool lanes are scheduled to be completed by December 2008. Long Term Closure of Eastbound Hwy 92 Hesperian Blvd On-ramp in Hayward (8/27/08 2:48 p.m.)
Caltrans closed the Hesperian Boulevard on-ramp to eastbound Hwy 92 in Hayward on August 3 and plans to reopen the on-ramp on Friday, September 12. This long term closure will allow crews to realign the on-ramp. Click here to view detour routes.

Overnight Pavement Rehabilitation On I-80 in Solano County (8/27/08 2:48 p.m.)
Caltrans will be repaving sections of I-80 from Air Base Parkway in Fairfield to Leisure Town Road in Vacaville. The roadwork will take place overnight, Sunday through Thursday, between 10:00pm and 5:00am until the fall of 2009.Click here for more information.

92/880 Interchange Project in Hayward (8/27/08 2:47 p.m.)
Caltrans has begun the project to rebuild the interchange for CA-92 and I-880 in Hayward. A cloverleaf is planned and will include multi-lane direct connectors from Hwy 92 eastbound to I-880 northbound and Hwy 92 westbound to I-880 southbound. Click here for more information.

19th Avenue/Park Presidio Blvd Project in San Francisco (8/27/08 2:42 p.m.)
Caltrans is upgrading the existing traffic signal system on Highway 1 (19th Avenue and Park Presidio Blvd) between Junipero Serra Blvd and Lake Street in San Francisco. Motorists should expect lane closures and traffic delays throughout the life of the project. Click here for more information.

I-238 Widening and Rehabilitation Project in San Leandro (8/27/08 2:41 p.m.)
Caltrans continues with the widening and rehabilitation project on Interstate 238, between I-880 and I-580 in San Leandro. Construction work to expand traffic lanes is expected to last until early 2010. Improvements will enhance traffic operations by providing additional capacity and safety by reducing the number of lanes for trucks to cross from westbound I-580 to northbound I-238. US-101 Widening Project in Santa Rosa (8/27/08 2:41 p.m.)
Due to the widening project on US-101 in Santa Rosa and weather permitting, periodic connector ramp closures affecting US-101 and CA-12, periodic lane and ramp closures affecting US-101, CA-12, Brookwood Viaduct, Steele Lane, 3rd Street, 6th Street, College Avenue, Bicentennial Way, Dutton Avenue, and Olive Street will be in place throughout the life of the project. Motorists are advised to use caution when following detours and to take alternate routes whenever possible. Caltrans lowered the speed to 55mph in the construction zone of US-101 and State Route 12 until the widening project is complete. Click here for more information.

Highway 24 Rehabilitation - Caldecott Tunnel to Walnut Creek (8/27/08 2:40 p.m.)
Caltrans began its rehabilitation project for eight miles of Highway 24 in early May of 2007. Work is expected to last until mid-2009. Most of the work will be done on weeknights, typically from 9:00 pm to 7:00 am. Ramp and lane closures will only take place during overnight hours when traffic is lightest. US-101 Auxiliary Lane Widening Project in San Mateo (8/27/08 2:40 p.m.)
As part of the Highway 101 Auxiliary Lane Widening project in San Mateo, Caltrans will close access to the northbound U.S. 101 onramp at Coyote Point for the construction of the elevated roadway at Airport Blvd. This work phase will continue until late 2009. Northbound traffic leaving Coyote Point will be detoured north on Airport Blvd to Anza Blvd. Southbound traffic leaving Coyote Point will be detoured south on Bayshore Blvd to 3rd Avenue. Completion of the Auxiliary Lane Widening project is scheduled to end in the spring of 2011. Click here for more information.

Route 12 Improvements in Solano County (8/27/08 2:39 p.m.)
Caltrans is moving forward with improving road conditions on State Route 12, on a 17.7-mile stretch of highway, between Walters Road in Suisun City and Drouin Drive in Rio Vista. All cross-median passing along Route 12 will be eliminated and “No Passing Zone” signs have been added. Motorists should expect delays throughout the life of the improvement project. CA-13 Project to Repair Pavement on Ashby Avenue (8/27/08 2:39 p.m.)
Caltrans begins a project to repair the roadway of Hwy 13 (Ashby Avenue) in Berkeley on July 20. The project should conclude in early September. Click here for more info.

City of Petaluma: Temporary Closure of D Street Bridge (8/27/08 2:38 p.m.)
The D Street Bridge will be temporarily closed to all vehicular and pedestrian traffic for a rehabilitation project starting September 3, 2008 to complete in early November. More information is available at City of Petaluma, D Street Bridge.
